2000 – Sack bei Reval is brewed to celebrate Saku’s anniversary

In 2000, Saku Brewery celebrated its 180th anniversary. In honour of the anniversary year, high quality, the so-called super premium segment beer with the historic name Sack bei Reval, was introduced.In the same year, the company was approved as compliant with the requirements of the quality management system ISO 9001.

2001 – The birth of Kiss cider

In 2001, Saku Brewery brought to the market a new series of ciders, Kiss, which with the first nine months achieved a 19% market share and the second position on the local cider market.

2003 – Beers in plastic bottles

In 2003, as a response to the increase in popularity of the PET packaging, new plastic bottles were introduced. As first products, Presidendi Pilsner and Presidendi 8 were bottled into plastic bottles.

2004 – Saku Originaal breaks onto the Finnish market

In spring a cooperation agreement was concluded with Sinebrychoff, the leader of the Finnish beer market, as a result of which marketing of Saku Originaal – the flagship of Saku Brewery – started in Finland.Saku Brewery also received a new quality certificate – ISO 9001:2000.

2005 – Saku Kuld, Estonia’s new elite beer, is born

In 2005, Saku Brewery introduced the exclusive Saku Kuld (Saku Gold) for the beer epicures. The sales of the new product proved to be three times as successful as planned.For the purpose of promoting beer culture, development of the best pub category for the gastronomy competition Silver Spoon and election of the best Estonian pub was started. In the summer of 2005, Saku town was named as the capital of beer culture.

2006 – Innovation in the beer world – Dlight, beer with juice

In 2006, the company entered the market of beer beverages with a popular product Dlight. Furthermore, the long drink segment that until then was called Saku Gin was given a new look and spicier name – Saku Zip.In 2006, a contract was signed with Sinebrychoff OY and from January 2007, Saku Brewery started the resale of Sinebrychoff products in Estonia.

2007 – The beer producer becomes a drinks producer

2In 2007, Saku Brewery changed its corporate trademark, the aim of which was to emphasize the role as the leader of the national beverage industry, considering the tradition of brewing as well as developing new beverage categories. The former corporate slogan “Brewing for you” was replaced with the slogan “A refreshing experience”, which reflects the activities of the company much more accurately.In the category of water, Saku Brewery achieved the leading position in 2007 which was significantly facilitated by entry into the near-water segment with the Vichy Viva Fresh series.2007 was also innovative in terms of product packaging – the company was first in Estonia to introduce the new generation multi-packaging technology shrink-wrap or filming. In addition, a new generation ring tap technology was introduced.

2008 – Saku enters the premiere league of world’s beer producers

The year 2008 was historically important for the Saku Brewery – it became a full member of the international brewery group Carlsberg and thereby rose to the top league of international breweries. Due to the fact that Saku Brewery belongs 100% to the Carlsberg A/S group, the company stopped quoting its shares on the Tallinn Stock Exchange in 2008.

2009 – Innovation in beer production

In April 2009, Saku set a completely new quality standard in Estonian beer production. The most popular method used to preserve beer, pasteurization, was replaced by state of the art technology – crystal filtration. Now you can get the freshness of draught beer in every bottle and can of Saku Originaal.

2010 – Gourmet beers are brewed for the beer lovers with an extra fine taste

In the autumn of 2010 Saku introduces to the pleasure of Saku beer and food lovers a line of quality beers called „Saku Gourmet Collection“ that is available as an exclusive limited edition until the beginning of 2011.
